John Scharver began his insurance career as an underwriter with The Cincinnati Insurance Company in 1996. He also spent two years with CNA Insurance as their Central Ohio Commercial Field Representative, where he focused on assisting independent agents with writing larger commercial accounts. John has been an independent agent since 2001.

John earned his Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation with a focus on commercial insurance. It is the premier designation in the insurance industry. Approximately 65,000 people have earned this designation since its inception in 1942. The curriculum includes graduate-level courses covering topics such as insurance law, risk management, finance and ethics. CPCU designees are also bound by a Code of Ethics, and must satisfy an experience requirement of at least two years of industry experience.
